Professor Alain Fraissé is a consultant paediatric cardiologist, treating both adults and children. He is also director od paediatric cardiology at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, and is a visiting professor at Imperial College London.
He completed his medical studies in France, at Marseille University Hospital (part of Aix-Marseille University), where he also received his masters in physiology and a complementary fellowship in intensive care at University of the Mediterranean, Marseille.
Following this, Professor Fraissé spent time as a clinical and research fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, USA. He then returned to Marseille University Hospital, where he completed his PhD in respiratory physiology.
For 14 years, he was the director of the paediatric cardiology unit at La Timone Hospital in Marseille, France.
Professor Alain Fraissé has special interest and expertise in interventional catheterisation in children and adults with congenital heart disease, structural heart disease and pulmonary hypertension.
