Dr Peter George
Dr Peter George received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2005 from Imperial College London. He went on to train in respiratory and general medicine and completed his specialist training in interstitial lung disease at Hammersmith and Royal Brompton hospitals in London and at the National Jewish Health Hospital in Denver, USA.
Dr George was awarded an academic clinical fellowship in 2009, in respiratory medicine at Imperial College London. And was able to complete his PhD on the role of the immune system in pulmonary inflammation with funding from the Medical Research Council.
Dr Peter George is an expert in the management of all respiratory conditions, with a special interest in interstitial lung diseases. His clinics focus on hypersensitivity pneumonitis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), lung diseases due to scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis, sarcoidosis and smoking-related lung diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Dr George is on the specialist advisory group of the British Thoracic Society for interstitial lung disease.
Dr George is active in his research in the recruitment of patients to clinical trials of emerging and novel treatments for interstitial lung disease.
Dr George has published numerous papers and chapters on his subjects of expertise. He has been published in the British Medical Journal, Pulmonary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Lancet, Respiratory Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine and the European Respiratory Journal.
Dr Peter George is an honorary senior lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He organises courses on all topics of respiratory medicine for hospital doctors and GP as well as teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. Within Royal Brompton Hospital he mentors junior doctors at all stages of their training.
