Dr Shouvik Haldar is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist. He specialises in the management of patients with heart rhythm disorders.Â
Dr Shouvik Haldar went to Guy’s and St Thomas’s Medical School and after his degree, he finished his general medical training in the Oxford Deanery. Once he completed his cardiology and sub-speciality training, he was awarded the Mirium L Burnett Fellowship in Electrophysiology and Devices from the University of Toronto. Â
Dr Haldar treats patients with cardiac problems such as palpitations, dizziness, and blackouts, chest pain, shortness of breath, family history of cardiac disease, high blood pressure, and heart murmurs.  Â
He treats patients with heart rhythm disorders using interventional procedure;Â
Dr Haldar has also taken an interest in imaging and diagnostics which includes the 12 lead ECG and transthoracic echocardiography.
Dr Haldar’s passion and interest to treat patients led him to complete a Medical Doctorate research degree (MD Res) studying interventional techniques in the management of Atrial Fibrillation. He did this at Imperial College London, at the National Heart and Lung Institute. NIHR funded this research grant to compare different modalities of ablation in a randomised control trial. Â
Dr Haldar has had a great deal of his research published in many peer-reviewed journals. His expertise makes him a strong choice as a speaker at international conferences and meetings worldwide. Â
Dr Haldar is able to strategise and shape the education for cardiology in his current role as Chair of the British Cardiovascular Society education division.
