Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: diagnosis, genetics and management

This talk focuses on the diagnosis, risk stratification and management of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a common hereditary cardiac condition.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, usually obstructive, causes symptomatic limitations to a significant number of patients and can be associated with risk of complications.

There are lifelong issues related to the diagnosis that need to be managed at multiple levels. New drugs generate hope for a paradigm shift in the management of this condition.

Dr Antonis Pantazis is a consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.

He specialises in cardiomyopathies, including dilated, arrythmogenic and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

He holds the position of chairman-elect at the European Society for Cardiology and is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences on his specialist area of interest.
